To be considered by the NYIS Foundation for a scholarship, you must be a resident of one of the following countries: Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Chad, Colombia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Ghana, Guinea, Guyana, Haiti, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Laos, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Pakistan, Paraguay, Peru, Rwanda, Suriname, Uruguay.

Due to regulations, students from Afghanistan, Russia, Brazil, Venezuela, Cuba, and Iran cannot be considered for financial aid.

To start your application, please use the form at the end of this page. We need:


  1. Your full name.

  2. Your email

  3. A short paragraph explaining why you need a scholarship or tuition aid

Shortly after your application is submitted, we will ask you for:


  1. A short essay explaining WHY you want to study in NY and why you picked the school of choice to study English.

  2. A time to attend an interview with a Scholarship agent


Note: Due to high demand, interviews are offered at specific times and cannot be rescheduled or retaken.

After you receive a reply from us, we need the following documents:


  1. A picture of your passport

  2. Written statement confirming you have a VALID US visa (B1/B2 or F1)

  3. Application confirmation is required from one of the schools we work with or a school you'd like us to consider.

  4. Acceptance letter to the program of interest. We cannot grant scholarships to students who haven't been admitted to their target program.

  5. If you are underage, we need a copy of your permission to travel. This document must be fully signed, notarized, and ready for you to travel.

After all documentation has been sent, the application committee will thoroughly review your application. Keep an eye out for an email containing our final decision. If accepted, you will get an email confirming:


  1. The scholarship amount (50 or 100%).

  2. Information on your room and address.

  3. Exact dates for travel (if you are a 100% scholarship recipient)


Step 5: Travel and welcome to the US

We will arrange your travel from the airport to your student accommodation or Airbnb.
